Companies, labor unions, trade associations and other influential organizations spend billions of dollars each year to lobby Congress and federal agencies. Some special interests retain lobbying firms, many of them located along Washington’s legendary K Street, others have lobbyists working in-house.
Total federal lobbying skyrocketed to $4.1 billion .That’s a nominal record and the highest lobbying spending since 2010 when adjusted for inflation.
At least 13,784 organizations deployed 12,609 federal lobbyists throughout current year.
The 10 clients that spent the most money on federal lobbying in 2022 accounted for 8.6% of all federal lobbying spending last year.
